Young Cyankazu Omondi lives in a magical land of Trino. At 12-years-old, Cyan begins his training as a Samurai. All is well until one long night things rapidly change: an invading army of monsters, Orcs and Behemoths, Ogres and Daemon Lizards, Lamia and Dominus Beast lay waste to all he has known. The war begins in the Green Kingdom, spreads to the Kingdom of Fog, and then to the Crystal Kingdom. As the world's situation grows more desperate, young Cyan grows in stature and competence. Learning his lessons well, his abilities exceed his age causing all manner of problems. As time passes, his mission evolves from one of vengeance to justice, from personal retribution to in the end, salvation for his people. Along the way he teams up with his sidekick, Magus, the sarcastic magical rat; Glenn, his friend from the School of Magi; and numerous people he meets along the way. The story is filled with magic, weapons, and a tremendous amount of action.

This is a very large book but all in all an enjoyable read. Although fantasy is not my usual choice or favorite genre, a well-conceived, well-plotted story is a good story. The author does a very good job bringing the reader through the protagonist’s long succession of personal growth accomplishments while introducing a group of equally well-developed supporting characters in a well-written, although somewhat long, plot. Lovers of good fantasy will see this book as an epic tale in the best tradition of fantasy, filled with monsters, magic, and mystical creatures, and in the end, a true fantasy hero. Good work.
