Permeable Divide by Ellen Rachlin is a truly captivating collection of poems that examines the world from a philosophical perspective. As the title suggests, we explore the permeable divide between the living and the passing of a loved one, confidence to succeed and the hesitation to try. Each poem is thought-provoking, insightful, and covers subjects around the natural world, the human belief system and how it can inhibit your choices. It poses the question of are you making choices through freedom or simply out of habit? The poems will draw you into a refreshingly new outlook about your thought patterns, your emotions, and behaviours.
Permeable Divide by Ellen Rachlin is an incredible book of poetry that will stimulate your mind to see the world around you with a fresh viewpoint. Her use of language is exquisite, as she weaves meaning and insight into every line. The subject matter is all about experiences we can relate to such as the heartbreaking loss of a loved one, the throwaway society we live in where possessions are not treasured but discarded recklessly. The extremely profound poetry will make you pause and contemplate an alternative frame of reference. The author has created not only a book of poetry but a collection of life lessons which I could reflect upon. I was not only moved by the words, but felt inspired to change my view of the natural world, my feelings of inadequacy, and to become more in touch with my emotions. I would highly recommend this book not only to poetry lovers, but to anyone who welcomes new ideas and ways of thinking.
