Young boy author Cody Jackson has created a picture book that is dedicated to "all those who choose and have chosen to wear the uniform to serve our country, and to their families who serve beside them." Full-color illustrations throughout tell Cody's story of patriotism that began with the creation of our country's constitution long ago. The author tells of greeting soldiers as they return from overseas duty and of thanking veterans who served in past wars such as Vietnam and Korea. Cody Jackson also shares how sending donations or making pictures to send to soldiers serving in war zones is a good example of patriotism. He recommends learning some of our patriotic songs such as "America the Beautiful" and reading of the lives of this country's patriots of long ago like Paul Revere.
"Pint-Sized Patriots: Standing Tall" is a nicely-illustrated picture book by a grade school boy that teachers and educators can use for a jumping-off point, beginning a lesson on patriotism or writing a story to mail to soldiers serving overseas in war zones. The author promotes patriotism and love of this country at a time when, though young, he understands that patriotism, love of the U.S., is on the wane. A portion of the sale of Cody Jackson's books goes to his efforts at OneBoyUSO. "Pint-Sized Patriots: Standing Tall" is one young man's excellent outreach to the world around him. Even the most cynical of readers will be amazed by Cody's strong sense that all U.S. citizens should love our country.
