Pledged by Louise G White is the third book in the Gateway series. The main character, Carolyn, has had a lot to deal with, including alternate dimensions, demons, and a world of magic. Carolyn is counting the days until she can return home, but of course, a lot can happen while waiting. Not everyone is happy to go as they have formed ties while in the other realm and Carolyn herself is dealing with forbidden feelings. There is a little something for everyone in this book - action, adventure, romance, and magic. The author has created a varied and diverse world with every creature imaginable.
Louise G White has written an interesting tale with Pledged (Gateway). I have not read the first two books and I admit at times it was a little hard to follow, but once I got into the book I did enjoy Carolyn's tale. She is a tough character faced with impossible situations, but she keeps fighting to save herself and those she cares about. The other characters help to fill out the world and round out the story, though I kept wanting to go back to Carolyn. It moved at a good pace and I would read the other two books so I can fill in the gaps. I do think that this would appeal to young adult fantasy fans, given the age of Carolyn's character and the themes, but it would appeal to older audiences too. I would definitely recommend it.
