Author Biography

Lisa Ayotte, an educator in CT, loves finding ways to make reading easier and fun for children. She believes kids learn best when they can visualize and make connections to what they read. And when something is funny to them, even better!
Lisa decided to create her "Peeps" as unique and diverse as the students she's taught over her many years as an elementary school teacher. She enjoys designing each scene, adding small details as she goes, to capture the reader's attention and help them focus on the "little" things. Find out more at: punnypeeps.com

What did the bus driver say to the frogs? "Hop in!" Lisa Ayotte’s book, Punny Jokes to Tell Your Peeps! (Book 3), is full of “punny” jokes like that one. Each page has one joke and a full-color photo accompanying it. The photos are cleverly designed little scenes always including peeps (pom poms with big eyes and other cute additions). An example is the space scene, which includes an astronaut peep, books on outer space, a case full of space stuff on a background of planets. The joke is "How does an astronaut get ready to go into space? First, he has to plan it?" Because each page is laid out in the same large font it would work well as an early reader.

Kids love jokes and this book will provide lots of fun ones for them to share with their peeps! The miniature scenes that Lisa Ayotte has put together for each joke are incredibly detailed and so clever. Kids will enjoy spending time looking at each spread to discover all the fun items. Each scene has so much to look at that you will discover new surprises each time you read it. Teachers could even use this as a jumping-off point to encourage kids to write and illustrate their own jokes. I love the simple clean look with a joke and a photo to accompany it on each page. Punny Jokes to Tell Your Peeps! (Book 3) is a definite must for any young or young at heart fan of puns!

Lisa Ayotte has written this series of joke books for children and although I am no child, I laughed loudly at the jokes and the images that accompany them. These are well-thought-out jokes that need a vivid imagination and a broad vocabulary; they are very witty and include a lot of word-play that only makes them more enjoyable. Kudos to the author for putting so much work into the jokes and, needless to say, the pictures. Her objective may have been to entertain children, but it definitely lightened up my mood today, and I can’t wait to share this book with my peers and family. Punny Jokes to Tell Your Peeps! (Book 3) is one of those books that can be read a thousand times and its contents never grow old. Loved it!
