Queen of Hearts: A New Beginnings Book 3, a compelling novel by Kathryn R. Biel, tells the relatable story of two individuals, Maryn and Stephan. Maryn works at a university in the laundry and the cafeteria, trying to help her mother raise her brother, while Stephan is the Crown Prince of Montabago. Falling in love at first glance, Maryn and Prince Stephan are a match made in heaven. At least, that’s how it seemed at first. When complications begin to unravel, Maryn must do everything in her power to keep it all together, including her royal composure. Queen of Hearts takes us through Maryn’s journey of living as a commoner with her mother and brother, to her new life as a wife and a royal - a journey of unwavering strength and determination, self-discovery and first love.
Queen of Hearts has the ability to make royals relatable. Kathryn writes the story realistically, making it exceptionally easy to understand the characters, their motives and their wishes, making you believe you know the characters personally. This is a great novel and I love that the characters are so relatable - that's something books about princes and princesses don't usually offer. Highly entertaining, unpredictable, passionate and honest, Queen of Hearts will have you reading from cover to cover in one sitting, and leaving you desperately wanting more from the royals, their complicated love and from Kathryn. Eager to know what happens to Princess Maryn and Prince Stephan, I couldn’t put Queen of Hearts down until the very end. Kathryn R. Biel is an extraordinary and incredible storyteller and writer, and I can’t wait for the novel she writes next.
