Raegan and RJ in Space: Christmas on Alpha Centauri by Richard Collins is a well-written comic book that takes children on an adventure to explore the wonders of space. After five years, when fifty families had settled on Hope in a space program to colonize the stars for Jesus, five families set out to Alpha Centauri on a mission. After departure on a starship called CSS Faith, Mr. Mark notices a problem. The artificial gravity at the chapel has been turned off by some of the kids on board. However, on the 3rd of June, the CSS Faith received a distress call from the US space agency on Earth regarding an asteroid heading for Earth. Find out how Raegan and RJ save the day, which earned them recognition from the US president for their bravery.
I had so much fun reading this unique comic book due to the positive lessons it conveys. I loved that every character was well-developed and had just enough background to get me hooked. The illustrations by Robert Stimpson and the visually appealing pages will keep kids engaged in the story. I found Richard Collins’s writing to be concise, straightforward, and easy to comprehend. The story evinced themes of teamwork, communal living, bravery, and more. The story had a good pace and was well organized from start to finish. I also appreciate that this story is faith-based and shows the importance of prayer. I recommend Raegan and RJ in Space by Richard Collins to all young readers and adults who enjoy reading children’s books.
