Mia Chapman is a stranger in town; she has her job and a house but has yet to make any real friends. She is attacked by a stranger as she walks to her car and injured by her assailant. Luckily for her, someone had noticed the stranger stalking her and stepped in to halt the attack. Mason Stephenson is no random superhero but a man who feels he should forever be atoning for his past. He runs a gym called Raven's Haven that, at first glance, seems to be a normal fitness place that happens to teach self-defense to women. Saving Mia is an act that will forever change both of their lives and change the way they view their future. Raven’s Haven: Fighting for Forgiveness by Cassidy K. O'Connor is the first book in the series and introduces us to Mia and Mason and the story of their love.
This is a book about women who have faced problems and are trying to overcome them. There is no glibness about the story. Cassidy K. O'Connor writes about women with real issues and the difficulties they face trying to overcome them. Raven's Haven may seem like an ordinary gym but the story behind it will touch even the toughest reader. The classes Mason holds are indeed a haven for women who need a safe place and strive to improve their ability to face the outside world. A workout followed by a time to speak their truth empowers the women to address their strengths and embrace them. Lacey, Mary, Andy, and the other women all have a backstory that I’m sure we will discover in the books to follow. I look forward to revisiting Raven's Haven and all the fabulous women that frequent it!
