It was just another evening church activity, but when Maggie Kraus and the members of her youth group visited a particularly “slum” neighborhood they were confronted with the stark reality of spiritual need. The result is a new member of their youth group and a delightful addition to Maggie's circle of friends. Tai, a young Vietnamese boy, lives with his single mother in obvious poverty. Maggie helps to arrange a working relationship between Tai and the crotchety old war veteran who also becomes an unlikely friend. The Inner Society continues to plague Maggie's existence and there appears to be no interruption in the terrors that define her life. When Pastor Bradford is unexpectedly relieved of his duties at Maggie's church, the youth group and their families are concerned about the sinister presence of the new reverend. His appearance coincides far too conveniently with the political turn the town has taken. Maggie and her friends realize that once again time is not on their side and no one can be trusted in this battle between the true believers and the genetically enhanced perfection of the Inner Society.

In Reckless Intentions, Melinda Louise Bohannon continues the chilling tale of Maggie Kraus and her quest for salvation and redemption. The battle between religion and politics once again reinforces the reality of what our society has become, while blatantly observing the existence of prejudice and intolerance in our otherwise perfectly perceived world. Once again the belief of Bohannon's Inner Society is focused on their idea that “we've been taught from birth to get what we want.”
