Resisting the Rancher (A Three River Ranch Novel) by Roxanne Snopek is a contemporary romance that tempts the unwritten rule against a man falling in love with his best friend's sister. Jonah knows that he shouldn't be messing with Celia, his best friend's sister, but now that she is all grown up, he is finding her harder and harder to resist. Celia has never quite gotten over her childhood crush on Jonah, and it doesn't help that he is the family lawyer and her brother's best friend. Is there a platonic relationship that will work for these two family friends? Or is a steamy romance on the cards? If Jonah crosses that invisible line, it means he could jeopardize his relationship with his best friend and really the only family he has. But to Jonah, Celia just might be worth it.
This was an interesting romance that had a lot of steam and attraction. It also had a fair amount of language in the dialogue. That didn't bother me, but it was more than you might see in other contemporary romances. I liked the premise of this story. I've always liked stories about girls in love with their brother's friends. And since that is kind of a taboo subject (between the friends especially) it was nice to read about how the characters thought their actions through, and rationalized what was right and what was wrong, and what some of the consequences of their actions might be.
