Reunion in the Desert by Leslie Rager is a skillfully written story about finding your way back to who you are. For most people, losing their way does not seem entirely likely; for Quinn Goode and Colton Carson, losing themselves seemed like the only way to survive. Quinn has spent her whole life trying to prove that she can be more than just the shy girl who does not fit in with the rest of her family. Quinn thought that moving away from her family ranch would give her the perspective she had been looking for. For Colton, the only new sense of normal he has been able to find is on the very same ranch. Quinn and Colton collide in a whirlwind of second chances, hoping that finding themselves will make finding love possible.
Leslie Rager writes a compelling story about how the choices we make define us. Told through Quinn's and Colton's perspectives, Reunion in the Desert emphasizes the importance of family and trusting yourself. The author created characters who are full of flaws, but still willing to be vulnerable and honest with each other. I enjoyed how the main premise of the story was for Quinn and Colton to heal themselves from the hurt they had recently experienced, and finding each other was just a bonus. Because Quinn and Colton only have a limited amount of time together, the story evolves rather quickly. The pace is perfectly matched for the developing romance between them. Reunion in the Desert is a perfect weekend read for anyone looking to escape from their own realities for a while.
