"Revenge" (a Travis Mays novel) by Mark Young is a spine tingling page turning mystery that will keep the reader up way into the night trying to figure out who the killer is. After a stake out goes wrong and an innocent victim is killed, Travis Mays seems to have the blame fall on him, but he was not the head honcho that had called the shots. After years of being a police officer, Travis gives it all up and goes into teaching criminology and taking time to relax in his mountain cabin he built in Idaho. But trouble does not stay away. When he hires Jessie White Eagle as a guide to white water rafting he soon finds there is more troublesome time ahead than learning the rapids. He now has become involved in a murder investigation starting with Jessie’s brother. As bodies start to pile up it's plain to see someone is out for revenge, but for whom? Travis or the Nez Perce Indian Tribe? As the killer seems to stay one step ahead of the investigation will they finally figure out how or from whom the killer is getting his information and why is he out for revenge?

This was definitely my type of mystery book. A thriller that takes the reader on a ride page after page and keeps them guessing what is going to happen next. As I read I kept trying to figure out the killer and his motive. With many clues and suspects I still could not get it figured out. I found this to be a very difficult book to put down. The characters were well developed and very easy to become connected with and even the secondary characters seemed to lend substance to the plot. As I read I could play out the action in my mind from riding the rapids in a kayak to dodging bullets. The big plus to my thoughts and mind on the novel is, it is cleanly written. When I was over halfway through the book I realized I had not come across any curse words or sexual episodes that I had to skip over like most books seem to contain. I would highly recommend this book to all who relish a good suspense book.
