Revernota by J. Mitchel Reed tells a tale about two friends, Sammy and Howie, who live in the small town of Stratton. Sammy had a mysterious neighbor, Mr. Atwell. Curious and always ready for a good adventure, the boys wanted to explore his property, which had many unfamiliar plants. Mr. Atwell invited them for a bowl of chili at his home, where they saw a painting with a dove among puzzling cubical forms. Suddenly, the dove came to life and flew out of the painting. Mr. Atwell gave Sammy an item resembling a chess piece and hinted that it was a key to a parallel universe. Sammy had the abilities of Revernota and could help Mr. Atwell enter the parallel world, but Sammy didn't trust him. Sammy, Howie, and a bully named Tommy decided to find out what Mr. Atwell was hiding and why the magical dove was now in the cage.
Revernota is an impressive novel by J. Mitchel Reed. It was a fascinating mixture of genres and will be a compelling read for young adult fans of fantasy, science fiction, and adventure. The author crafted the unique world of Revernota thoroughly, offering us an imaginative journey to the different universes described in the book. This is an engaging coming-of-age story. As the events unfolded, Sammy learned to be responsible and make the right decisions in dangerous circumstances. The author explored the relationships between parents and their children and the true meaning of friendship. Sam's dad was a great secondary character. He guided Sam through difficult situations with wisdom and explained to him the significance of forgiveness and having a second chance. I appreciated the beautiful writing style, attention to detail, rich imagery, and flawless editorial work. The book has a thrilling ending that leaves us hoping for more extraordinary adventures.
