Risk: A Billionaire Love Story is about two people who have tried their hardest to not want the things they really want. Deborah had a pretty hard upbringing in foster care and Aidan has led a pretty charmed life, at least that is the quick version of their lives. These days Deborah has overcome her past and has a successful future mapped out ... if her past doesn’t threaten to suck her back into the darkness. Aidan has always had any and everything he has ever imagined and is the very picture of a party playboy. Kaelyn Swan could have easily taken the predictable route and just made this a story of a playboy changing his ways for the love of a good woman. In a way, that is exactly what this story is on the surface, but it is so much more. Deborah and Aidan both have demons, albeit different ones, to fight before they can enjoy a whole life.
Kaelyn Swan created a love story of growth and going back in Risk: A Billionaire Love Story. When Deborah meets Aidan, she is in the midst of a stressful time involving people from her old life, which only strengthens her resolve to never put anything, especially love, ahead of money. Her troubles give Aidan something to actually care about for the first time in a very long time, which humanizes him even when he falls back into his old ways. The chemistry between them was magnetic from the beginning, but it was watching what Aidan would do with it - since he was so used to immediate gratification while Deb was used to denying herself frivolities like love and sex. At times, I felt both Aidan and Deborah did things so out of character that it was unbelievable, but that only added to the drama of this intense story.
