Rockhound by Angela Morrison is a wonderful children's picture book about rocks. It follows Gavin as he gathers as many rocks as he can. Gavin loves rocks, and that makes him a rock hound. Every place he goes, he always finds different rocks: rough rocks, sharp white stones, black rocks, blue-gray rocks, or slimy pebbles, and takes them home. Over time, his home becomes filled with rocks of all shapes and sizes. He always finds room for more and more until, one day his family members force him to choose between them or the rocks. Now Gavin is conflicted. He must find a way to save his beloved rocks. How will Gavin make people see the value of his rock collection?

Rockhound was a visual delight with its beautiful story and marvelous illustrations by Emily Brunner featuring rocks. Every page was a feast for the eyes. Angela Morrison did an excellent job with the wording. This stunning picture book inspires children to build a rock collection on their own, reminding them that nature's treasures are just beneath their feet, waiting to be discovered. It teaches them never to give up on their passion. It also teaches parents to support their children’s interests. This book is a fantastic way for young readers to experience the excitement of finding and collecting rocks, the value of saving money and teamwork, learning about problem-solving, and experiencing the joy of sharing their passion with others. Every little rock hound, adventurer, and treasure seeker will love this book. It contains basic information on sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks.
