Tammy Cranston's Rooted: A Seedling's Journey is the story of a young oak tree. This tree lived near his grandfather, and he felt thrilled and comfortable around him. Grandpa Oakey always gave him the greatest advice, and as the "Seed to Tree" ceremony approached, he needed to grasp the changes he was experiencing. After a terrible storm, the big day arrived, and how scared this tiny tree was! However, when his length and strength were tested, a significant issue loomed over him: what name would he eventually pick for himself? In this delightful picture book, you'll learn how this lovely day ends and about the unavoidable realities of life that we all confront.
Rooted: A Seedling's Journey is a wonderful narrative about transformation and progress told from the perspective of a young tree. I enjoyed Grandpa Oakey's essential position in Dendro's life since it is comparable to the role that many grandparents play in the lives of their grandchildren. I particularly liked how the book presented loss so clearly as it may be difficult for children to comprehend such a sensitive subject. Tammy Cranston effectively conveys a clear message to young readers while entertaining them along the way. The images are also worth mentioning; I appreciated how well they complemented the text, and the color scheme evoked a sense of comfort. I loved the recommended questions at the end of the book since these provide an excellent opportunity for young readers to reflect on how the book has made them feel. I can't think of a finer book for parents to add to their library and read with their children.
