Great. A great book. A great mystery. A great series. That’s the best I can do to describe Ruby Heart: The Neve and Egan Cases Book 2 by author Cristelle Comby. It follows the story of private investigator Alexandra Neve and her business partner, the blind history professor Ashford Egan, as they piece together the case of the antique ruby heart necklace owned by elderly client Doris Hargrave that’s gone missing for the second time in sixty years. Digging through twisting trails that lead all the way back to the Holocaust and a World War II love affair, Neve and Egan realize that there’s more to this ruby heart than a simple piece of jewelry. And when Alexandra starts to receive threatening messages and her apartment is broken into, they start to wonder if the mystery is really worth their lives.
I loved this book. This was the first book I read in the Neve and Egan series, and I had no trouble at all following the story line, but I will certainly go back and read the first installment, because this book was just that good. Author Cristelle Comby is an extremely talented writer with a gift at writing well-paced exciting reads that will keep you reading long past the time that you intended to set the book aside. In fact, the one tip I have for readers, other than to be sure to get this book and enjoy it, would be to make sure you have enough time to read it in its entirety. Ruby Heart will appeal to any reader who loves mysteries and great fiction. I certainly hope that Cristelle Comby is hard at work on the next book in this series, because I, for one, will be waiting in line to get it!
