Sadie Vs. Big Mouth by Silas Thomson is an entertaining story book for kids. Sadie finds a new home with the Kramers who take good care of her. She feels jealous of Big Mouth, the big blue box who seems to get everything. Sadie is happy, but after a few months she devises a naughty plan. One day she gives Big Mouth a big hard push and everything inside it spills on the kitchen floor. Mrs. Kramer goes to scold Sadie but she finds her sick, lying on her bed. This beautiful story is an ideal tool to teach kids good lessons.
This small story shows the lovely concept of adoption and also teaches children that they need not get everything they want and also the consequences of their behavior. The messages are subtle and conveyed in a simple manner. It makes a perfect bedtime story book for parents and grandparents to read to their kids and grand-kids. It is perfect to use in school libraries and classrooms where children can be taught some values and morals.
The illustrations are great and they are bright and colorful. The pictures also give the story, characters and scenes movement and life. Kids will love Sadie. She is adorable and naughty. It is easy to teach children through books and if the books have an interesting concept or message, then that makes conveying the message easier.
