Safety Net by Debra M. Ladensack brings action from the get-go and ensures that the reader is hooked just after reading the first chapter. The story is surprisingly intense and made me read on and want more. This is the story of Kristopher Robbins, a man living a simple life with his wife and daughter, but his whole world came crashing down when both of them died in a tragic accident. Fueled by his anger and his thirst for revenge, he becomes a politician to secure the future and the lives of the people of his country.
Supported by a team of people he trusts, he starts a campaign to strengthen the public and give them a voice. With time, people believe in his reforms and believe in him to make their lives better. However, the more popularity he gains, the more enemies he makes. Instead of scaring him away, the enemies toughen his resolve to fight back and work harder for his people. But his rivals are not going to retreat so easily. They are ready to fight dirty, regardless of the casualties. Can Kristopher fight back and achieve his goals?
The themes of social issues and politics are strong and weigh heavily in the overall story line. Although this should have made the novel a tad bit slow and somewhat uninteresting, the narrative kept the pace steady and stopped the novel from becoming boring. The story was intense; there was never a slow moment or any filler. Every chapter brought something new to the story and made sure that the focus of the story remained on Kristopher’s goals. I enjoyed how Kristopher was not perfect; he had flaws and shortcomings that made him real and relatable. His ideas, his chemistry with other characters and his determination was well-planned and thought out. I truly enjoyed Safety Net by Debra M. Ladensack. Very entertaining.
