"Sam Capra’s Last Chance" by Jeff Abbott is a short book that is a go between from his first book and the last book in this series. We find here Sam looking for his son who has been kidnapped. Having been a former CIA agent, he believes that his son has been kidnapped by an international crime ring who goes by the name Nine Suns. The book starts out great with Sam chasing a man who he believes has knowledge of where his son is. With help from a woman named Mila, the chase is on to different locations to find his son before it is too late.

This is the first book I have read of Jeff Abbott and it is an ok book but I would have liked to know what took place before, in the first book. However, I feel this can be read as a standalone. There was a lot of repetition about his son being kidnapped, especially in the first part of the book, that really lets you know what the main focus of the book is. It does have a thrill to it with the chase scenes and when Sam comes up short each time in identifying the exact person he is looking for. The book is very short and can be read or listened to in a short time. Once I read the last part of the series there may remain unanswered questions. You may not find all the answers to the questions formed in your mind as you read on. All in all, I found this to be a nice afternoon read.
