Satin Doll by Joe Cosentino is another delightful addition to the Jana Lane series. In this third book, Jana Lane has become a pro at finding her way into mysteries. When she goes to Washington to shadow Senator Cassie Castle, she brings along her family for a vacation and a chance to see friends Congressman Jackson Mitchell, his partner Adam, and their kids. Events take a surprising turn when a reporter is murdered in Cassie’s office. A handsome former football star turned detective pulls Jana into the investigation. Putting together likely suspects and advocating against a bigoted bill may not be the top of Jana’s problems as family secrets come to light, her nanny needs her help, and the murderer may be closer to her than she thinks.
Another hit for Joe Cosentino! Satin Doll has a time jump, but follows the events of Porcelain Doll with Jana getting ready to film her next feature which was mentioned in the second book. Joe Cosentino never misses the mark with charm and humor. Jana is a relatable leading lady who’s the perfect sleuth. With charisma and nosiness, Jana is able to sashay into another murder case. It has the perfect cozy feel to it. Cozy mystery books always have a lead that puts their nose into every investigation and everyone just nods along. Satin Doll tackles the political world, but doesn’t bog readers down with facts. At the heart of the novel is family. An ill-conceived idea and political ‘image’ can easily destroy someone’s life. Satin Doll is charming, emotional, and full of heart!
