Savoring Sweet is a book about using herbs and flowers in delicious recipes. According to this book, people are using savory herbs and edible florals in the kitchen in cocktails and desserts. After experimenting with herbs and flowers in recipes, author Flora Caputo decided to write this book about what she found, as far as wonderful recipes using these ingredients. Ms. Caputo starts out with technique options you need to know before you begin. Then, each chapter is about a certain herb or flower, or both, explaining in detail about them, and then a recipe for using them. She has used pictures throughout the book to help you visualize and better understand what she is saying.
I use herbs in cooking a lot, but never flowers, so this was an interesting and informative read for me. And there were a few herbs I have seen in the grocery store, but wasn’t sure what they were used for, so I was happy to find out! Flora Caputo is sold on using these herbs and florals, and her passion shows as you read the pages of Savoring Sweet. She has included a lot of valuable information, and some very good recipes to try. My favorite recipes are the Honey and White Peach Basil Tart and the Cilantro Coconut Cheesecake. And the pictures throughout the book are awesome; all of the recipes look delicious and wonderful. If you enjoy experimenting with different recipes, this is an amazing book. It is beautiful inside and out and filled with information you will enjoy for a long time. And have good food to eat to boot!
