In Shelbo’s Adventures in Technology: A Trip to the Dentist by Michelle L. Dean, a young girl goes for her first appointment with her dentist, Dr. Incisor. One of Shelbo’s back teeth has a small cavity that hurts a little. Her dentist explains that eating many sugary foods could have caused the cavity. Perhaps it was that ham and cheese sandwich that Shelbo had for lunch. Or could it be those yummy blueberry waffles and orange juice she downed every morning that began the decay? Oh no! Shelbo’s heart can’t stop thumping at the thought of it all. Luckily, the dentist has the knowledge and tools to fix Shelbo’s tooth, and she won’t even feel a thing

A Trip to the Dentist by Michelle L. Dean will provide plenty of comfort and motivation to children going to the dentist for the first time and those with dental issues that need checking. Your child will learn about the food that could lead to problems with teeth and gums, the value of proper brushing techniques, and the importance of visiting the dentist regularly. The book also takes youngsters through the processes and the dental technologies dentists use to fix tooth cavities. The narrative is filled with interesting words and catchy phrases. The lively illustrations help keep readers engaged. Full of charm and with a delightful blend of fun and education, the book offers an interactive and resourceful way for parents to help their child conquer their fear of the dentist.

My children love reading the Shelbos adventures series. Shelbos trip to the dentist is our family favorite! We read it most nights at bed time and my children love the mix of information about a dentist office and the silly catch phrases Shelbo uses like “ugh-ughity-ugh!” This book never misses and we can’t wait for more from this series.

The author Michelle Dean does a wonderful job with Shelbo once again in this story for her going to the dentist. Can’t wait to see where Michelle Dean takes Shelbo next!
