Shiver and Fears: Don't Mock a Witch (Volume 3) by AJ Hard revolves around Wendy Carter who is not only popular among her friends but pretty too, with her brown eyes, brown flowing hair, and sparkling teeth. She is mean and her behavior irks many of her friends. Her best friend Torah warns Wendy about her behavior and tells her many times to be careful and change her attitude, but Wendy does not listen to her. Then suddenly one day things take a turn against Wendy and she realizes that something is not right. Everyone is staring at her and she feels itchy all over. Has she been cursed by Ginger who hates her? Has Ginger taken her revenge on Wendy? And what is the explanation for her nose growing three inches long?
The story is entertaining and is all about the attitude and snobbishness of one girl, Wendy, and how things turn against her. The story conveys a good message of how we all need to be more humble and learn to tolerate and accept others. And it's not right to mock others for what they don't possess. It's a good bedtime storybook and kids will enjoy it. The story can also be used for read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries. Stories that convey a concept or a message help kids understand the message or the concept more easily when narrated via a story and some interesting characters, and this story does just that.
