Signs of Passing by Owen Thomas is a collection of short stories about life and its meaning, and how to inspire yourself and others to live life to the fullest extent. Signs of Passing contains ten stories that are loosely connected, but each can be read in any order and independently of others. The stories generally have a common theme of living life to the fullest extent possible, and taking chances on the unfamiliar and the unknown if it means following your dreams. The stories contain characters from all walks of life, from the wealthy to the middle class, working all types of jobs, and being in a variety of different circumstances. The one thing they have in common is the message that life is meant to be lived fully, following one’s heart, and taking risks in the process because that is the only true way to live.
Signs of Passing by Owen Thomas is an engaging book with an easy and simple writing style. Indeed, people of all ages and from all walks of life can probably take away something from this book. I enjoyed the central message of just forging your own path while following your heart and dreams. It is especially relevant in today’s age where, even with all of the modern comforts in life, many people are still miserable and live in a trapped life of their own making. Hopefully, this book will inspire them to break free and try to find true happiness. All in all, I enjoyed reading this book and all of its short stories.
