Since You've Been Gone by Angela Grey and Paige Peterson is a suspenseful and emotionally charged mystery that continues the Dakota Killer Thriller series. The story follows Laci, who, after reconnecting with her long-lost triplet sister, Willow, plans to finally meet her in person. However, when Willow suddenly goes silent, Laci’s reunion plans turn into a desperate search through the dark underbelly of North Dakota. With time running out, Laci’s detective skills are put to the test as she unearths sinister secrets that could make her the next target. With alternating perspectives and a tightly wound plot, this thriller is packed with unexpected twists and a haunting exploration of sibling bonds and betrayal.

Authors Angela Grey and Paige Peterson have done it again with a thrilling sequel that more than lives up to expectations after a brilliant start to the series. I enjoyed the alternating perspectives and the way the story is told through different attitudes that twist your perception of what's going on, putting us just as on edge as Laci herself as secret after secret is revealed. The exploration of the long-lost family connection is an interesting angle to add to Laci's character development at this point in the series, and the depiction of sisterly bonds gives us a poignant, emotional layer to cling to and root for. Grey and Peterson’s sharp pacing and shocking twists certainly made the book hard to put down, and when you combine that with excellent descriptive work, the atmospheric portrayal of every setting creates a chilling and immersive story world. Overall, Since You've Been Gone is a must-read for fans of the series so far, and I'd recommend the series in general to thriller fans looking for an addictive new fix.

In Since You've Been Gone by Angela Grey and Paige Peterson, Laci O’Neil receives a mysterious letter instructing her to locate her twin sister, Willow, before the wrong people catch up to her. Willow was employed by Thunderhawk Financial and discovered proof that high-level executives were laundering millions through shell companies. As Willow delved deeper, she became aware of the surveillance she was under. Upon Laci's arrival in Bismarck, she discovered that Willow was missing. Detective Ketterling warned Laci that poking around could be risky if Willow was involved in something dangerous. Someone was watching and tracking Laci's every move, yet she was determined not to leave Bismarck without finding Willow. Although Bismarck is a small town, the threats hidden beneath the surface are larger, darker, and more dangerous than Laci had anticipated.

Angela Grey and Paige Peterson's Since You've Been Gone was a thrilling journey full of danger, intrigue, and secrets. I was immediately engrossed and found it impossible to put the book down. The excitement kicked off early and maintained its grip until the conclusion. The writing style was compelling, drawing me into a dangerous environment. The characters were well-crafted, and I found myself hoping that Laci would locate Willow before anything unfortunate occurred. The plot was exceptionally well-structured and executed. It kept my focus until the very last moment. The finale was a significant shock. I did not anticipate this huge twist, nor was I prepared for it. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am still in disbelief over what transpired at the end.

Since You've Been Gone is the second book in the Dakota Killer thriller series by Angela Grey and Paige Peterson. A year after Laci O'Neil found her twin sister, Willow Harrison, she received a mysterious message saying that Willow had gone missing. Determined not to lose her again, Laci left Minneapolis for Bismarck in search of her sister. Laci soon discovers that Willow's landlady has been found dead and that Willow has stumbled onto some dark secrets about Thunderhawk Financial involving embezzlement, fraud, and payoffs to influential city officials. Now, Laci has a target on her back while Willow struggles to free herself from the clutches of her captors. Laci must use the proof to bring down the people hunting her and her sister, but an unexpected betrayal throws a wrench in her plans.

As someone who has read multiple books by Angela Grey and Paige Peterson and considers himself a fan, this is yet another thrilling crime mystery novel by these two authors. Since You've Been Gone is a tale of fighting against all odds to survive. The two sisters, Laci and Willow, have very different personalities and story arcs. While Willow is more calculated in her approach to the problems facing her, Laci follows her heart even if it lands her in trouble. I loved the dynamic between the two and found it to be the main anchor of the narrative. There's also a shocking reveal toward the end that I did not see coming. A good suspense novel always brings out a palpable sense of tension and intrigue, and this book does it in spades. Recommended to crime, mystery, and thriller enthusiasts!
