Singing in The Cornfield is the second novella in Bethany Jones' Virtues of Love Collection. It's a wonderful Christian novel of resilience, discovery, kindness, love, hope, and endurance. It follows 26-year-old Merridith, who has a beautiful voice and knows to keep on living life with a smile no matter what. Merridith is happy to dedicate her life to teaching children, but seeing her parents so happy together after all this time, she wonders if she will ever find such love. Thus, Merridith decides that she is ready to want more in life than teaching. Now that she is about to visit her brother in Newport, she starts to feel butterflies in her stomach and knows that her life will change somehow this summer. Will Merridith find the kind of love she craves that makes you do anything for the person you love?
Singing in The Cornfield: Joy Comes in the Morning is a charming, faith-based, western romance novel. It's an easy yet great read, with delightful characters and a heartwarming story. Bethany Jones writes with heart and authenticity. Merridith's story reminds women that they can have it all if they want adventure, a purpose, and a family. Anyone who enjoys romances focusing on love, faith, and family should read Singing in The Cornfield. It might be the escape read you need right now, as it's a beautifully written book about finding love and never losing your joy. It also has a sweet and unexpected ending. It should be at the top of your summer reading list.
