Singularity by Sherri Moorer takes readers into a post-apocalyptic world of intense complexity and moral ambiguity, where the rebuilding of humanity hangs in a delicate balance after a devastating pandemic. The author explores the razor-thin edge between technological advancement and potential extinction, following newlyweds Senara and Killian as they attempt to relaunch Artificial Intelligence. The story goes beyond typical science fiction tropes, presenting a nuanced exploration of humanity's relationship with technology, survival, and ethical boundaries. Moorer creates a world that feels both frighteningly plausible and intellectually provocative, challenging readers to consider the profound implications of technological progress in a world struggling to recover from near-total collapse.

Sherri Moorer's dystopian world feels harrowing and uncomfortably plausible in a narrative that is as intellectually stimulating as it is emotionally engaging. I was captivated by how she develops multidimensional protagonists with compelling personal and professional stakes that elevate the story beyond typical sci-fi thriller conventions, and compelling dialogue scenes that have an emotional impact but never spoon-feed or over-dramatize the moment. The narrative tackles some hard-hitting ethical dilemmas with a nuance and urgency that keeps readers constantly questioning the boundaries between human survival and technological ethics. Moorer's pacing and tension-building are exceptional, creating a narrative with constant momentum while allowing for deep philosophical exploration moments. Each scene is carefully constructed to reveal layers of complexity in the motivations and the broader societal challenges that the characters face, and the book manages to be both a gripping thriller and a sophisticated consideration of humanity's relationship with technology. Overall, I would certainly recommend Singularity as a thought-provoking and expertly crafted science fiction novel that will both challenge and entertain readers.
