I laughed out aloud while reading this book. Petti's experiences of growing up as a Catholic have inspired the title of the book, but even non-Catholics will find humor in this book. Petti writes about his childhood, marriage and parenting, commentary on American life, current events, and his life as a playwright. One of my favorite chapters is 'Baldness: the Haircut that God Gave You.' It is just flat out funny, whether you have hair or not. Another hilarious story is 'Tales of Pee Corner.' If you ever had to walk down a dark, scary hall to get to a bathroom at night, you will appreciate this one! My favorite parenting mistake that Petti owns up to is reading his kids "Bossypants" by Tina Fey. I mean, who hasn't read something or told something to their kids and suddenly realized they wish they hadn't started? Everyone may not have had a possum encounter (I have), but you are sure to get a laugh out of the "Playin' Possum" story, too.

The best thing about Petti's blog-turned book is that it helps point out the humor in your own life too! I can't begin to count the number of times I said to myself, "Yeah! That's right!" or "OMG, I've done that too!" I love how he uses humor to make commentary on our present-day culture. The language in the book is relatively clean (some asterisks are used to simulate a word or two)which is great because I know my kid will pick up the book when she sees the hilarious nun on the cover!
