Marina Maxwell had an anger problem. She was the co-anchor of a top-rated newscast in Atlanta, GA. She was soon to be married to Mangus Baskerville-- one of Atlanta’s finest. Mangus felt the first sting of her wrath on the day of their wedding. The second time was on their honeymoon.  Mangus was learning that life with Marina was explosive. However, she always promised it would never happen again. Can their marriage survive?

Rarely do you find a book that addresses the problem of a woman abusing her husband. As inSomething He Can Feel the police always suspect the husband but rarely suspect the wife. InSomething He Can Feel, Marina sought assistance from a therapist, bringing to light that there is help available for those willing to seek it.

I have seen firsthand the damage from this type of abuse, and I commend the author for her effort to shed light on it. Marissa Monteilh is an extremely talented author. She has a flair for developing a scene, making it come to life. Something He Can Feel had an unexpected twist to it. The characters were interesting; each had their own flaws that made them human and relatable. While this book was an easy- to-read, easy to understand story, it is not a light read. The depth of the plot and the harshness of the subject troubles the reader long after the story is complete. I liked the way Ms. Monteilh presented faith throughout the story. She successfully showed that through God all things are possible. Marina and Mable both have a changed life through their faith in God. The ending is not a fairy tale ending. The author ends the book with these words, “There’s no such thing as a happy ending, only a story that hasn’t ended yet.” This is a must read book!

Marina is a pretty lady and a sucessful news anchor with a temper. She is in love with Mangus. Mangus is a fine tough police officer with a big heart. From the outside it looks like a match made in heaven. Behind closed doors, Marina has a very dark side to her. How long will Mangus allow the abuse to continue before leaving? Will he ever leave? Marissa Monteilh shows the readers that all that glitters is not gold. I will not give away the ending, but it will make you think real hard. This is a honest in your face love story. How can two people that love each other so much end up this?

Marissa does an excellent job with her latest novel, the story of a woman named Marina Maxwell. Outwardly, she may look as if she has everything together. But behind closed doors is where we get to observe the real woman. Her violent tendencies towards her main man are evident from the day they get married. But the wedding still goes on and the marriage is tested time and again between Marina and Mangus, the hubby she abuses.

The best thing about the book is how Marissa portrays her characters especially Marina. As a reader, you may find yourself checking your own anger issues and wondering if you have anything in common with this explosive sista. Marissa must be commended for writing about a subject that's out of the box. She brings attention to the issue of men that are involved in domestic relationships and showcases how things can and do go wrong. Something He Can Feel is refreshing, eye-opening, and a must read.

Here's a novel that addresses a very serious subject matter. Domestic violence at the hands of a female perpetrator/male victim is a fresh concept in fiction and one not often addressed. Marina's insanely jealous and violent outbursts were difficult to read at times but because readers are given a thorough explanation of Marina's troubled past, those outbursts are not so difficult to understand. Mangus' inability to stand-up and be honest with Marina only contributed to her aggressive temper. It was a downward spiral but surprisingly Marina chose to break the cycle and from there the unexpected happens. I was uplifted, moved, and inspired by the spiritual lessons presented but was heartbroken by the end. This by far was one of the most unanticipated endings I've ever read. I didn't see it coming and was overcome with shock, grief, and hope for a sequel. I would love to read more of this author's magnificent work.

I don't want this review to be about the abuse Mangus suffered at the
hands of the person who said she would love honor and obey. Nor do
I want to get into the fact that the abuse was verbal, emotional and
physical. I would like this review to be about relationships, our past
and the cycle of life. However when it comes to pain it is most times
masked and definitely needs to be uncovered.

Mangus Baskerville was raised by a dad who holds honor and respect for
his wife in high regards. He believes once you married; the marriage is
most important and you figure out how to make it work. The reader gets a
glimpse into his father's life. We find out that Mrs. Baskerville yelled all the time according to Mangus. but Mr. Baskerville stood by his wife in the same way he's teaching Mangus to do with Marina. As we look closer at Mangus you can see he struggles with his upbringing and his own emotions surrounding the abuse his wife wants him to feel.

Jealousy and anger are the ingredients that erupt into a volcano in
Marina's mind. Whether real or imagined she perfected this behavior from
her childhood demons.

She was raised by a spiritually broken, drug addicted mother and putting
myself in the story I would have to say Marina adopterd the "not me" attitude early on. There's principals to living this life, balance is one of them. Being balanced allows us to act better in situations. For
every action there's a reaction which results in consequences we cannot
escape. Marina becomes a victim of the violence she served just as she
was beginning to gain control of her anger.

"Something He Can Feel" kept me engaged from the beginning to the
end. Even the cover was striking from those rainbow colored earrings to
her mocha skin tone. Ms. Monteilh created believable, strong emotionally
passionate characters who quickly became my friend. The characters were
multidimensional not only did we see strength but weaknesses also. Ms Monteilh accomplished in my literary world what she set out to do which I believe is simple "expose the monster" in order to help our men. The message was plain and profound. Excellent job!!!

Marissa Monteilh has done another wonderful job. This book was great to read. It opens your eyes and makes you realize no one is truly perfect. Everyone has some baggage and it's unfortunate that Marina took hers out on her husband, Mangus. I hope this bring more awareness to the issue of domestic abuse, no matter which sex is being abused.

I truly enjoyed reading "Something He Can Feel". It was well written by the author. So many men are abused by women. I just hope that this book will help so many people who are in trouble. What a great job done in making people aware.

In "Something he can feel," Marissa Monteilh not only has addressed the issue of domestic violence from a different perspective, she has also created a cast of soap operatic characters that support her climatic ending--or is it the end--smile? Do I since a sequel? It was a great read.

This book dealt with a serious issue that is going on everyday. Domestic violence against a male in the relationship. Most man will not admit to being abused by their wives or girlfriends. This is a definite must read. You can even pass it on to one of your male friends to read, you never know what someone else is going through behind closed doors.

This was a very a difficult novel to read and the ending was unexpected. Mangus and Marina represent a couple who has it all, but behind closed doors it's a different story. I don't want to give too much away so please read this book it will make you angry it will make you think. "Something He Can Feel" is the story of domestic abuse from a male point of view.
