The horse is a graceful, beautiful animal. Like most little girls I wanted one, but alas I never owned one and rarely have I ridden one. The few times I was on horseback, I had a feeling of exhilaration.

Pamela DeMuth lives her dream of owning a horse. She owns several. DeMuth shares her experiences and wisdom with her readers. She begins by sharing hints of making a horse comfortable in his/her new home. Gait, gallop, and canter are just a few of the terms the owner will need to know.

I found chapter 3 of particular interest. A horse, like many animals, can sense your attitude. You might as well leave your problems at the gate.

DeMuth shares health tips, including feet grooming, trimming, and loading. She even shares a list of signs that show fear or negative feelings.

I am now inspired. On my next vacation, I will ride a horse for at least a few hours.

The Spirit of Horsemanship by Pamela DeMuth is written in simple, easy-to-understand terms. It is obvious that DeMuth loves horses. I envy her relationship with this noble creature. The photographs add much to the text. I highly recommend this book to all interested in horses.
