Spring Cleaning by Brandi Salazar is a compelling story of love, abuse, and deceit. Terri, a waiter in an adult club, thought she was safe. She took big measures in order to protect her life. She even did some cosmetic changes to hide from Randy. Randy, her soon-to-be ex-husband, is in jail serving a sentence for abuse and attempted murder. She fell in love and married Randy not knowing his dark side: a domineering and abusive man. Terri knew from her lawyer that Randy could be released from prison in as early as one year, provided that he behaved well while incarcerated. However, what she did not know was that her husband was thirsty for revenge. At the same time Terry received help from an unexpected person, she was deceived by someone she trusted the most. Now she has to fight for her survival.
Spring Cleaning is an exciting drama/thriller. I just couldn’t stop reading it. I liked the way Ms. Salazar developed the plot and its characters. In flashbacks she describes riveting facts about Randy and Terri’s lives and personalities. Their story intersecting with the secondary characters made some of them pretty mysterious, others pretty real, but all really convincing. I also enjoyed the twists and turns of the plot. The book had a few surprises and it could very well be adapted into a movie. I am not sure if Ms. Salazar planned to make a sequel, but I would be interested to read about Terri and her new life afterwards. For those who love a good drama with a few twists, it’s a great read.
