Learn a thing or two about how investments work with this heartwarming tale about family. Sweet Sneakers by Chris Bridges is a children's picture book that follows two young siblings named Isaiah and Zara. When the siblings receive a package full of photographs from Nana, they go down memory lane and recall the times they visited Nana and Poppop's house. Isaiah remembers Poppop seeing his new special sneakers and finding them too expensive. One day, Poppop took a ride with Isaiah, and they ended up collecting used soda cans, which they later sold at a recycling center. Poppop taught Isaiah that instead of buying new sneakers, he should save the money for a rainy day. He goes on to invest the money in the same company that made Isaiah's sneakers.
Sweet Sneakers is a wholesome story with a couple of valuable lessons on investment. This captivating picture book will not only entertain but also teach children about the merits of saving money and help instill entrepreneurial ideas in them from a young age. The characters are likable, and young readers will find it easy to relate to them. The children's relationship with their grandparents is adorable, especially Isaiah's bond with his grandfather. I loved how Isaiah slowly learned what his Poppop was trying to teach him about saving money and investing it in something he was truly passionate about and believed in. Kassidy Evans' illustrations are the icing on the cake, and they complement Chris Bridges' immersive storytelling beautifully. If you're trying to teach children about savings and investment, this engaging picture book is the way to go.
