Tales of Mr. Snuggywhiskers: The Autumn Tales (Volume 1) is a children’s fantasy by C.F. Crawford. While climbing a tree in her backyard, Hallie touches a magic branch that shrinks her. She is also surprised to see a tiny door in the tree and enters a home occupied by Mr. Snuggywhiskers and his family of mice. They become friends and Hallie takes her sister Cory on other visits. Hallie takes Mr. Snuggywhiskers along when the family spends Thanksgiving at her grandmother’s home, and he stays with his cousin, who lives in another magical tree. The mice invite Hallie and Cory to a party held in their grandmother’s Jacuzzi, (bring your own cheese) and the sisters sneak out of the house to attend. Everyone is having a good time until the dreaded cat appears!
The enchanting Tales of Mr. Snuggywhiskers: The Autumn Tales (Volume 1) is such a delightful fantasy story and it is obvious from the writing that the author is not hesitant to jot down ideas on paper, with a humorous imagination seen in the plot. There is never a dull moment. One of my favourite scenes is visiting Squirrel’s home while he is on his honeymoon, due to its good description. Mr. Snuggywhiskers is rather intelligent for a mouse, and Hallie and Cory are cool. The cover illustration of the tree home is beautiful. It would be nice to read more children’s stories by C.F. Crawford who writes remarkably well.
