Teddy's Day: On a Bearish Adventure Through Everyday Life is a children’s book written in rhyme by Peter N. Liptak and illustrated by Pascal Biannicléger. When the sun rises, Teddy looks out the window and smiles. While eating breakfast, Teddy tries to think of wonderful things to do. He rides his bike and feels the wind as it caresses his fur. Digging near reeds, he finds a colony of ants and wonders what they would feel like crawling under his feet. Teddy then spots an apple up high in the tree, but is unable to reach it for his hungry belly. Instead, Teddy makes his way to the watering hole and catches a fish. He then takes a nap in the warm sun on his blue hammock. When Teddy wakes, it is dinner time. After a bath, Teddy relaxes and reads a book before sleep takes him into a world of dreams.
What a wonderful adventure book for young readers! Peter N. Liptak’s tale of a Teddy Bear’s fun-filled day is imaginative and perfectly complemented by highly colorful illustrations, bringing the story to life. With the sun shining outdoors, Teddy has so many activities to choose from so that he can make the most of such a beautiful day. To not see a single computer, tablet or television mentioned is an absolute dream, and gets children thinking about how many things they can do to enjoy the outdoors. Bike rides are great for keeping them fit, but even watching ants move around on the ground can be fun, as long as they don’t get too close or step on them. I very much enjoyed Teddy's Day: On a Bearish Adventure Through Everyday Life and the fascinating way it encourages children to use their imaginations at play time. I feel this book would be ideally stocked in day care centers, preschools and in home libraries, not only to be read to children at bedtime, but also as one of the very first books that a child learns to read. Well done!
