Take a scenic and scientific journey of discovery in Cheryl Johnson’s Texas Critters and Creatures! Filled with stunning imagery, fun nature facts, and creature biographies, this book would make a delightful resource for classrooms and home libraries. This interactive read encourages young readers to get outside and explore the natural world. The book teaches children how to record information about their finds and helps them get started making exciting discoveries of their own. The back of the book includes helpful resources for parents and teachers who want to find more ways to integrate nature adventures into their daily lives or classroom settings. Johnson also includes definitions for the scientific words used to help children better understand and grasp some of the biology and nature terms and phrases found in the text. This book is a great way to introduce children to nature and animals in an educational setting.
Entertaining and educational, the book teaches children about some of the unique animals found around the state of Texas. Texas Critters and Creatures is one of a handful of nature and animal discovery books written by award-winning author and photographer Cheryl Johnson. I loved the colorful photos and easy-to-read format that make this story an enjoyable read. The book includes additional resources, activities, and information linked at the back to help parents and encourage children to begin their backyard adventuring. The author has provided children with a valuable resource that can continue to inspire them for years to come. It would also be a fabulous book for nature and animal lovers, particularly homeschooling families.
