That Love by Willie S. covers a topic littered with minefields, uncertainty, self-doubt, and fear. The author uses what society expects and the peer pressure that all young adults feel once they leave school, go to college, and start the career that they have chosen but most times has been chosen for them by well-meaning adults. The author shows through his two main characters, Sira and Keith, how these insecurities, fears, and self-doubt can either make or break a relationship, even a marriage. Sira and Keith start on their journey with an unexpected complication which brings to the fore their self-doubt about their relationship and those relationships with various people through their journey in life. Sira and Keith are not afraid to use the tools available in today’s world to help them navigate a path that has more curves than straight sections and more hills to climb than places to rest and take in the scenery unfolding throughout the journey.

Willie S. uses each of these loops or curveballs in their relationship and quietly guides his characters and readers through the journey that they have embarked upon. Any reader, young adult, or newly married couple will find That Love so encouraging and helpful that they will definitely be reading it more than once. It was a most interesting book and helped me to sort out the crossroads I have reached in my life. The author broke each chapter into sections to address each of the doubts, insecurities, financial strains, and jealousy, and how they get the tools to cope and speak openly to each other about their worries. It made me, as the reader, realize that in my generation we never had that luxury. The ending is not what is expected but is worth the wait. The fact that the main characters are encouraged to use therapy to help them negotiate the world of becoming an adult was absolutely beautiful and a big change from when I grew up and it was a social stigma. Thank you to the author for giving couples hope, faith, and the courage to face the difficulties in their lives, using the tools made openly available today, and maybe just making it to the other side as winners. An inspiring book and well worth more than one read.
