Author Biography

Sharron Cornelius, a native from Rockdale, TX, loved to write poems. She had a natural gift at writing. She had a unique imagination and she had a way of telling stories that she would envision. At the age of sixteen, she was diagnosed with Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome. She wrote the children series books, The Adventures of Hickahoo and Friends a few months before she lost her battle with the disease at the age of twenty-nine. She was so proud of her books and was excited to get her books published. That was her dream, to see them in print. So, with the support of her brother Joshua Cornelius, her mother Lora Jean Cornelius, her grandmother Christine Beard and her Aunt Michele Cobb her dream has finally come true and her writing lives on.

Life is an adventure. And there’s nothing better than spending your life surrounded by those you love. Hickahoo and Lou are friends, but they also have friends in Kaloo. They decide to go find these friends and have some fun. They search every special space where their friends might be, like the watering hole, a good place to be on a hot day. No sign of their friends. Hickahoo is quite upset. Lou decides to climb a tree to see how far away the friends might be. It’s all a game, really, as Lou climbs back down and leads Hickahoo on a jaunt until they finally find their friends. You see, it’s a surprise. And no one likes a surprise better than Hickahoo.

Sharron Cornelius’s picture book story, The Adventures of Hickahoo and Friends: Hickahoo's Big Surprise, is a cute little story, told in rhyming verse. Complete with beautiful, bold, colorful illustrations, this story leads the young reader on a journey to help Hickahoo and Lou find their friends. They visit different fun places along their journey, places where these animal characters might enjoy playing or just cooling off. The young reader can relate to these fun places, as well as learn something about these animal characters. It’s an adventure story that ends with a happy surprise, one that young readers will appreciate. It is also an adventure story about life and the importance of friendships and being with those you care about. A charming book that will delight readers, both young and old.
