Pete the Picassofish is just one of the many colorful personalities you will meet in The Adventures of the Picassofish. Johanna Hurmerinta introduces Pete and a host of his other finned friends through the pages of this beautifully illustrated children’s book. Johanna tells an exciting story of life in the Red Sea as she talks about the various species of fish living beneath the water’s surface. Pete explains curious details about each of his friends. He lets children know which fish are dangerous and which are safe. Children will be excited to see what happens when Pete comes across perilous fish. Will he be eaten or will he escape? Come along and join Pete on his adventures with his friends around the coral reef in the sea. Be amazed at the beauty. Be bemused at the antics of some of the fish. Be sure to watch out for the barracuda.
Johanna Hurmerinta loves underwater photography and this earth. Her love for nature and photography shines through in her new children’s book, The Adventures of the Picassofish. Johanna punctuates her children’s story with pictures of many different types of fish that live in the Red Sea. Her style of writing is entertaining for children while at the same time being very informative. Parents can use this book to teach their children about the importance of taking care of the earth. Only when we teach our next generation to conserve the planet will they sustain nature for the following generations. This book also touches on some social issues, including bullying. Making friends with those who are different is also addressed. Read this book with your children and share the joy of taking care of this planet while learning the remarkable stories of different types of fish.
