The Akhasha Chronicles: Volume I: Awakening by EJ Castille is a praiseworthy technothriller. The story takes us first to a research laboratory in the depths of Mount Elbert, where a team of scientists led by Nikolai Stormgrave is developing a mysterious machine. Suddenly, armed intruders enter the facility. The team tries to shut down the project, but the machine activates, wrapping the Earth in blue light. Following this incident, radiation increases, seismic waves shatter the Earth, and some individuals gain supernatural abilities. Twenty-four years later, in Denver, Colorado, scientist Alexander Landers goes missing. His twin sons, Kaydin and Kaylen, start searching for Alexander and discover a data chip with a prophetic message from their late mother. What happened to Alexander Landers? And will the twins live up to their mother’s prophecy?
The Akhasha Chronicles: Awakening by EJ Castille left me both satisfied and looking forward to the sequel. I liked the dynamic, fast-moving writing style where dialogue and action prevail. At the same time, the story expertly balanced scenic, atmospheric descriptions that fed my imagination. I loved the time travel, fancy high-tech gadgets, mysterious technology, and spectacular telekinetic combat. I also appreciated how the novel explored societal divides, the importance of perseverance and planning for success, the dangers of untamed intelligent technology, the pain of betrayal, and sibling and parental loyalty. All these virtues made it a praiseworthy read, and the ending was both conclusive and intriguing. This suspenseful novel will appeal to technothriller fans who like supernatural combat.
