In The Assassin's Quest, Book 4 of the Paladin Chronicles by Dr. Neil Port, Jess travels through the dry and desolate desert of Central Asia to find some answers. She is a Nubian assassin. Although there is no doubt that she is deadly, scary and ruthless to her adversaries, but when it comes to her friends and loved ones, she is vulnerable and almost shy. But that is not something that troubles her. Deep in her heart, she holds a secret that can never be told.
During the journey, Jess meets Pandora. Pandora is a Greek slave and looking for her home. As soon as these two meet, sparks fly and they become lovers. They are joined by other friends who are all on the way to reach Troad. The journey is hard and filled with danger. Can they reach their destination unscathed? Can Jess find out what happened to Elana and Jacinta? Can they really believe that the Elfish Prophecy is finally complete? When the danger is so near, can they trust each other or will they fall prey to the perilous journey and lose it all.
The Assassin's Quest by Dr. Neil Port is a steamy, yet adventurous novel. I had my doubts when I started reading it and thought that I would not be able to connect with anything. But I was pleasantly surprised. As I had not read the previous three novels in the story, I was ready for going back again and again to understand, but that never happened. Port wrote the novel beautifully and with thought. That clarity made it possible for a new reader to understand his story and fall in love with it. I really loved this book. Although I'm not a big fan of fantasy fiction, this one made me like the genre. I would be reading the previous novels in the series because I know they will be just as good as this one.
