The Big Parade: San Francisco is a children's picture book written by Stan Resnicoff and illustrated by Leonid Rabinovich. Once every thousand years, people from all over the world take part in a gigantic celebration and parade. If you're not an active participant in the parade, then you're part of the audience watching the splendid floats and performers as they march by. The Big Parade in San Francisco is no exception to this rule. It's a splendid affair that takes place throughout all the landmarks of San Francisco. The Golden Gate Bridge is especially busy during the parade with the environmental displays that are floating by for the viewing pleasure of the spectators lined up along the bridge's walkways. There are well-known celebrities attending the function, including the Mummy, Swamp Thing and both Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. There's even a black coffin that's rumored to be the daytime resting place of a famous vampire count.

Stan Resnicoff's children's picture book, The Big San Francisco Parade, is fascinating and fun both to read and to explore. Each of Leonid Rabinovich's panels is brimming with details, figures and San Francisco architecture that's delightfully skewed. While this book will please just about anyone who is young, or young at heart, it will be of particular interest to those who are familiar with the City by the Bay. I found myself eagerly studying the landmarks and turning the pages to get different perspectives. My favorite paraders were, of course, the monsters and legendary horror figures who are marvelously and meticulously drawn. The Big Parade: San Francisco is a big book that only pretends to be a slim volume. Enter and prepare to spend quite some time marveling at the parade as it marches, floats, flies and swims by. This most unusual children’s picture book is most highly recommended.
