The Book of Sorrel is a work of fiction in the paranormal romance genre. It is aimed at adults and was penned by author Jennifer Peel. The story follows Sorrel Black, a young woman keen to stop a curse that has haunted her family for generations. Governed for years by a mystical tome, upon receiving possession of the book herself, Sorrel finds that it is no longer working. Hopeful that the curse has ended, Sorrel meets journalist Eric Knight who is unaware that his family is also tied to the curse. Together the two lovers must find a way to break the curse without breaking their hearts. What follows is a dramatic and atmospheric journey of romance and suspense.
Author Jennifer Peel has crafted a twisting plot with excellent turns and surprises, one which is sure to captive fans of both romantic suspense and paranormal drama. One of the things I enjoyed most about this tale was the fact that the paranormal plot and romance arc were given equal weight and development, which makes the book a more fully rounded and satisfying reading experience. Sorrel and Eric are given close treatment as the leading pair of this romantic tale, and I admired the work that was put into their heritage and secrets, which unveils beautifully in well-timed moments of exposition in the plot. The dialogue made a strong presence in increasing characterization, relationships, and plot dynamics too. Overall, I would definitely recommend The Book of Sorrel for paranormal romance fans everywhere.
