Authors Uzma Farooq, Samir Ahmad, and Amani Ahmad bring readers Aesop's thirteen fables in The Boy Who Cried Wolf! And Other Great Stories With Lessons. Immerse yourself in the story of the tortoise and the hare, where the hare faces the consequences of overconfidence and tooting his own horn. A country mouse learns a thing or two about peace being a better option than luxury when he visits the home of a city mouse. A shepherd boy's penchant for playing pranks on the villagers goes horribly wrong when he lands in trouble for real. A lion discovers what karma is after a tiny little mouse manages to save his life. A clan of mice comes together with an ingenious idea to protect themselves from the fearsome cat, but there's no volunteer.
The Boy Who Cried Wolf! And Other Great Stories With Lessons is an engrossing collection for young and older readers alike. As the title says, there's a moral lesson interwoven in each of these thirteen tales. These stories are a retelling of the fables written by the ancient Greek fabulist and storyteller Aesop. While most of these stories will be new to young readers, a few may seem familiar due to their enduring popularity in the cultural zeitgeist across generations. Authors Uzma Farooq, Samir Ahmad, and Amani Ahmad have done a fantastic job of presenting these stories in a way that contemporary readers can connect with. Readers will not only be entertained but also learn some valuable life lessons along the way. I enjoyed every single one and found "Belling the Cat" particularly hilarious. The artwork is the cherry on top. Highly recommended!
