The Chosen Ones by Blaine C. Readler is a science fiction adventure that combines humor and action. The story follows Cameron, Christy, and Tristan, three graduate students who find themselves unexpectedly recruited by alien beings to pilot advanced fighter ships in a cosmic conflict. What begins as a bizarre encounter with the eccentric Dangerous Wilies quickly escalates into a high-stakes mission involving interstellar politics, survival, and moral dilemmas. The narrative is inventive, blending elements of space opera with sharp wit and clever dialogue. The characters are distinct and dynamic, driving the story forward.

The plot is fast-paced and filled with unexpected twists, as the protagonists navigate alien technology, battle enemy fighters, and uncover the complex history of the Wilies and their masters. The concept of intergalactic civilizations vying for control of Earth introduces fascinating ethical questions about power, loyalty, and the consequences of advanced technology. The inclusion of the trans-space portal and the idea of selling Earth to a more benevolent cluster of civilizations adds a unique dimension to the narrative. Blaine C. Readler’s writing is vivid and imaginative, painting a picture of alien worlds and advanced spacecraft while maintaining a grounded focus on the human experience. The humor is sharp and well-timed, providing levity alongside the tension of interstellar battles and existential threats. The Chosen Ones offers an entertaining journey through space while exploring themes of courage, sacrifice, and the complexities of interspecies relationships. Readler’s inventive and masterful storytelling and memorable characters make this novel a standout in the genre, appealing to fans of both action-packed adventures and rich narratives.

The Chosen Ones is a humorous sci-fi adventure novel by Blaine C. Readler. When Cameron's acquaintance, Byron, brings him an offer to pilot a starship on behalf of aliens that look like flying lizards, he isn't very keen on the prospect. However, the involvement of his arch-rival, Tristan, changes his mind, alongside the fate of some Salvadorans. They are joined by a young woman named Christy, who finds herself unwittingly enrolled in a mission upon which the very fate of humanity depends. The lizard-shaped aliens, termed Dangerous Wilies, are at war with one of the "civilized races" called Notuchems. Soon after Cameron reluctantly joins their mission, he discovers that not everything is as it seems. Can Cameron and his friends defy the aliens and save Earth?

Jam-packed with mystery, action, and humor, The Chosen Ones is an absolute blast to read. You never know what to expect from this book, as our reluctant heroes bumble their way into a situation where they are fighting for survival against all odds. One of the most hilarious aspects is that none of the characters here are your typical sci-fi heroes who go out of their way to save others. And this is what makes Cameron, Christy, and even Tristan so entertaining. Blaine C. Readler skillfully incorporates a lot of dry humor and witty dialogue throughout the narrative. It makes the character interactions a joy to read. For sci-fi fans, this novel will take you on a wild rollercoaster ride into space. I enjoyed it very much, and I think you will too!

Some phone calls are best left unanswered, because, as illustrated in The Chosen Ones by Blaine C. Readler, some calls are nothing but an invitation to trouble. The story begins fittingly enough with a phone call when young Cameron learns from his friend Byron that aliens have landed in the latter's backyard. However, these are not your ordinary aliens; these are obnoxious and diminutive caricatures with the personalities of angry chihuahuas. After meeting these otherworldly visitors, Cameron discovers that they are seeking help, and specifically looking for volunteers to pilot fighter craft in an upcoming battle that the little critters may have instigated. Along with his academic nemesis, Tristan, and the hungover Christie, the three humans must complete a crash course in space combat so they can aid their erstwhile allies and keep Earth safe from galactic rascals and rogues.

A delightfully absurd escape from reality awaits in The Chosen Ones by Blaine C. Readler. The story follows three acquaintances as they prepare to face an intergalactic menace at the request of slightly less annoying threats. While the narrative maintains a lighthearted tone, it also explores important themes such as liberty versus oppression and overcoming differences, providing an uplifting read. The character development is quirky yet effective, and the banter between Tristan and Cameron, along with the eccentric characteristics of the aliens, is a standout feature. With a fast and energetic pace, combined with ample doses of humor, The Chosen Ones is an excellent read for young adult fans of science fiction and anyone seeking an amusing diversion from everyday life.
