When the fugitive Detective Jessica Foster has been hunting is arrested, you can be sure she will travel three states away to pick him up. The Detail by Dana Wayne takes you down the path as Jessica struggles with the attraction she has for her partner, Seth Hamilton, and the unease she faces traveling with a killer. Everything shifts gears when Seth and Jessica notice a Jeep following them. Tires shot out during a sand storm, Seth wakes up from the accident with Jessica and the prisoner gone. He was determined to let his feelings be known, but is it too late now that she has vanished? Is she in the hands of the deranged prisoner who will enjoy giving her a slow and painful death?

The Detail by Dana Wayne is an intricate weaving of characters, attraction, and danger. The author not only captures the magnetic pull of the detectives, but also the sinister mood of the prisoner toward Jessica. Dana takes a common plot and adds the perfect amount of drama and complexity to make this a dynamic read. As the story progresses, the pace accelerates. The characters are well-rounded with quirks that make them feel real. I was hooked, wanting to know more about Jessica and her dysfunctional upbringing. She saw it as a weakness, but I believed it made her stronger. I was excited to find this author as she holds nothing back when writing about suspense and romance. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who loves suspense thrillers and Texans.

Perhaps Detective Jessie Foster is genuinely fond of her team at the Walker police department, Dallas, and that’s the reason why she didn’t want to take her new job with the Feds in Dallas (even though she feigned enthusiasm for the job). Or perhaps she wasn’t ready to admit that it was because she was madly in love with her partner, Detective Seth Hamilton. But then unknown to Jessie, Hamilton had also fallen head over heels for her. Having been tasked with taking a notorious homicide suspect, Jack Walls, from Denver to Walker for trial, Seth plans to confess his love to Jessie. After suffering an attack from Jack Wall’s accomplices on their way back to Walker, Seth is unfortunate enough to lose Jessie to Jack Wall’s accomplices. This is even before Seth makes his confession to Jessie. With Jack Wall’s reputation for killing women, will Jessie survive her imminent scary fate? Will Seth find and rescue Jessie in time? Find out more in Dana Wayne’s The Detail.

If you love reading fast-paced action thrillers with a touch of romance, then The Detail is what you should be looking for. I loved everything about the book. Dana Wayne exhibits her prowess in storytelling with her unique style of writing. Her long and twisted sentences are loaded with sophisticated vocabulary that gives the book a professional touch. The characters are very well developed. Dana depicts their traits impressively and boldly. There are lots of amazing characters in The Detail and I just could not get enough of them. I loved how fitting the character traits of the two main characters were. I always looked forward to the witty and intellectual conversations between a hard-headed, introverted, and beautiful Jessie and a funny, caring, and handsome Seth, both of them being intelligent, humorous, full of sarcasm, and outspoken. Dana does a great job of depicting her scenes and characters. They are very picturesque and it felt like watching a movie. There is exciting action, thrills, suspense, tension, adventure, and much more. I loved The Detail.

In Dana Wayne’s novel The Detail, detectives Jessie Foster and Seth Hamilton are assigned to fetch Jack Walls to stand trial on suspicion of murder. During their return trip, the three are involved in a collision and Jack manages to escape while Seth and Jess are seriously injured. Upon hearing the news, Jess’s brother Tony returns from active duty. Tony introduces Jess to Luke Collins who also returned from duty to take care of his friend Carter’s younger brother Mason. While hunting for Jack and trying to stay safe, Seth and Jess remain in close proximity to each other. Seth has known for some time that Jess is the one for him and the feeling is mutual. Jess is in danger as Jack targets her and, although protected by Seth and Tony, someone is providing information to Jack who is out for revenge.

The Detail is a thrilling, romantic story. Dana Wayne is an outstanding author, and her talent shows through as the story unfolds. The interesting array of characters is easy to relate to, including the friends and family of Jess and Seth. The scenes and locations are well described, from Jess’s home to Jack’s hideouts. I enjoyed the smooth flow of the story, easy and comfortable to read. I especially appreciate the recipes that Dana includes, allowing the reader to enjoy the same meals as the characters, saving me the trouble of looking up the recipe. All-round, an exceptional story, thoroughly enjoyable, and highly recommended to all adults.
