I thought The Dragon’s Egg (Relics of Mysticus Book 3) by H.B. Bolton was an astounding book that readers of all ages will be able to enjoy over and over. I should mention that I have not read the first two books but found that book three can be read as a standalone. From the very start you will be transported into the world of H.B. Bolton. Main characters Even, Clarie, Dunkle and even the imp are developed with a unique blend of perfection and originality that is personable as well as likeable. The way the characters think, feel, act and envision their destiny is written in such a descriptive manner that I felt it placed me in the center of all the action. All of the characters venture forth on their quest to find the missing relics. They cross enchanted landscapes and realms that are vividly illustrated, making everything come alive with each turn of the page.
I thought the storyline and plot theme were written in a thought-provoking manner that could capture the attention of readers. Granted, this is book is mainly intended for middle grade readers, but it can be enjoyed by all. On a side note: I did not find any foul language or graphic violence that is not fit for a child to read. This is definitely a book that I will be sharing with my kids and can vouch as a parent for the tastefulness of presentation. An adventure book that you will not be able to put down. A mystical world that readers of all ages will enjoy time and time again. Five stars!
