Another day has begun. It’s time to get up and meet the day's adventures head-on. In Shani T. Night’s The Elephant Trumpets in the Morning, one young elephant greets every morning with a loud trumpeting song. Some of the other elephants and animals of the forest are tired of hearing his morning song, but they soon realize it’s a great elephant-o’clock way to start a new day fresh and with a positive attitude. There is a purpose to each new day, and this young elephant knows what his purpose is: to greet the day with joy. His song is a “wake up, let’s go,” inspirational beginning to yet another day.
Shani T. Night’s picture book, The Elephant Trumpets in the Morning, is a sweet and charming story that will inspire young readers to greet each new day with joy and purpose. One young elephant teaches the animal kingdom around him that it’s always important to show up, even in the morning when sleep invades one’s purpose. Every morning is a time to start over, start afresh, and make the day mean something wonderful and important. Told in rhyming verse, this lyrical treasure will warm the hearts of both the young and the old. The language is simple so young readers can easily follow along and improve their own reading skills. The illustrations by Reggie Howard are simple, yet suitable for the gentle story that they accompany. The message is clear: that we all need to show up and make a difference in both our lives and the lives of those around us.
