In The Eleventh Commandment: A Dystopian Romance, after an apocalyptic environmental meltdown, the world was left uninhabitable and humanity and all other forms of life on the verge of complete extinction. Taking advantage of the human desperation, a new leadership under the Holy New Order came into existence under the leadership of the Prophet. In this new world, women were treated as the lowest of the low. Their only purpose in society was either to be used as breeders or service the men without choice. When Maree, who had seen and experienced the worst of it, learned that her 15-year-old sister was about to be made a breeder, she knew she could not let this happen. She pulled off the impossible and the two of them escaped into the wild, where they would face endless dangers as they were pursued by soldiers and other equally deadly beings. But the hope of finding a promised land mentioned in legends kept them going. On their journey, they gained an unexpected ally, but Maree had seen the worst from his kind and could not easily be fooled. Slowly, after saving their lives on more than one occasion and teaching them how to survive in the dangerous wild, Kallem gets them to trust him. But how will they react after they find out the true intentions behind his 'too good to be true' generosity; especially Maree who slowly opened her wounded heart to him.

The Eleventh Commandment: A Dystopian Romance by Norah Wilson and Heather Doherty is a deeply engrossing dystopian story about a world filled with desperation and female oppression of the worst kind. The theme of the story is gut-wrenching and will have your heart bleeding for the women of the Holy New Order. Norah Wilson and Heather Doherty brought this story to life and created a deep connection between the reader and the characters. The dynamics of Maree and Kallem’s relationship – equal parts intriguing and complex - born out of memories long erased from one and suppressed by the other, will have you rooting for them and cursing the unfortunate fate that brought them to this place. Amidst all the suffering, the drama, the risks, challenges, distrust and betrayal, these two somehow give off a beautiful vibe of hope. Norah Wilson and Heather Doherty did an incredible job writing this great story with suspense filled scenes that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time, hoping against hope that the good guys will win the final round.
