The First Plague is a work of zombie horror fiction with an interesting twist penned by author Kevin M Port. Written for adults due to explicit content and language, this tense and addictive read introduces us to brothers and heroes Logan and Luke Matthews. When a zombie apocalypse breaks out and sees the brothers separated by the city’s length, a survival journey of epic proportions begins for them to come together and face the threat. The brothers share a bloodline with ancient roots, marking them as the ones to watch during the apocalyptic horrors which are unfolding. And those who are watching them have some wicked plans of their own.

Fans of the traditional action-packed zombie survival novels will get all that they wish for and more in the work of Kevin M Port. The action and gore scenes of apocalyptic reality are viscerally described, bringing true horror images to life with frighteningly enjoyable clarity. The scenes sweep by with great pacing, and there’s not a moment to lose as the central mystery of the plot unfolds and gives us clues as to how Logan and Luke might overcome the enormous threat that the zombies pose. There’s also wry humor cutting through the intensity of the atmosphere, providing some really dry moments where you almost feel like you shouldn’t be laughing. Overall, The First Plague has a fascinating twist when you discover it, making the novel a rip-roaring, high-quality zombie adventure that also has more depth and discovery than first meets the eye.
